THE REDUCTION GROUP *2006

... creates performance art works and interventions on the issue of reduction. Berlin performance artist Jörn J. Burmester, Finnish perfor mance artist and director Janne Saarkkala and Joy Harder have been investigating reduction as a working method and artistic strategy since 2007.

Artistic creativity can be a state of mind of mad productivity inspired by horro vacui, the fear of the void. Today's economy is defined by the need for perpetual growth. Growth ensures the stability of the existing power structures. Reduced art engages in a perpetual process of reduction in all aspects of life.
