Performance Lecture
Schneewittchen rechnet ab!
Werkstatt der Kulturen
Berlin/D 2012
For Schneewittchen rechnet ab!, a conference on feminist economics at Werkstatt der Kulturen in Berlin, curated by Julia Lemmle, I was looking for a lecture performance strategy that would relate as immediately as possible to an audience composed of theorists, artists and activists at the same time. I wrote a selection of very short chapters concerned theoretically with subjects such as performance art and the market, performance art and transformation, reduction, failure etc..
Before holding my lecture I offered a number of performance objects to the audience asking them to hand these objects to me or to simply hold them up whenever they felt the moment was right during the performance. I then started to hold my lecture, which became more and more difficult the more involved I got into performing activities that I partly created on the spot, or chose to select from my performance vocabulary, in reaction to the interventions of audience members and the repetitive reading of lecture-parts by some of the other artists invited to perform at the conference.
